(Zenaida auriculata noronha)
is the only member of the pigeon family
that nests on Fernando de Noronha. Its ancestors came from South
America where other races of this species are found. On Fernando de
Noronha, it is the most frequent animal visitor to the flowers of Erythina
velutina, and is regarded as the most important pollinator of that tree
(Sazima et al. 2009).
